Latest Joao Felix rumours untrue says Romano

The Joao Felix and Conor Gallagher transfer merry-go-round is the gift that keeps on giving this summer, with Chelsea and Atletico Madrid likely tearing their hair out after the collapse of the Samu Omorodion deal.

With under two weeks to go now until the transfer window closes for business until January, there’s a real need to get a move on with trying to ensure that the deal gets over the line.

Both clubs will have begun their respective 2024/25 league campaigns this weekend, with Diego Simeone and Enzo Maresca each having their own style of play to work to.

Romano not happy about latest Joao Felix and Chelsea rumours

If the managers are doing so without either player being in situ at their new clubs, team equilibrium might then be affected if they do join.

According to CaughtOffside columnist and transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, that might be soon.

‘Understand Chelsea and Atletico are getting closer to final agreement for Joao Felix and Conor Gallagher!’ he wrote on X in a late update on Friday night.

‘Positive round of talks today, Joao says yes to contract terms.’

There was also a rumour that Romano was keen to put right, however.

‘Rumours on €60m fixed fee for Felix are not true,’ he added. ‘All parties working to get it done this weekend.’

Could we finally be about to see an end to this incredibly tedious and long drawn out saga? And what does it mean for both clubs?

On the face of it, most would suggest that Atleti are getting much the better deal.

In Conor Gallagher, they will have a player not yet in his prime who gives 100 percent each and every week and is sure to be an asset.

Even now, the jury is still out on Joao Felix, and the fact he was often kept out of the Barcelona side last season by a then 16-year-old Lamine Yamal speaks volumes.
