Arsenal complete signing of Swedish forward Rosa Kafaji

Arsenal have confirmed their fourth signing of the summer in Swedish forward Rosa Kafaji.

The 21-year-old joins the Gunners from Damallsvenskan club BK Hacken, where she has spent the last two years of her career. She previously represented her hometown club AIK Fotboll, initially as a youth player before she made her senior debut in 2019.

For BK Hacken, Kafaji made 61 appearances and scored 28 goals throughout her two seasons at the club. Last season, she was their top goalscorer with 15 goals in all competitions, which helped them on an impressive run to the Champions League quarter-finals.

“It feels amazing to join this club – I’m so happy to be here,” Kafaji told the club website. “I had a very good feeling after speaking to Jonas [Eidevall] and Clare [Wheatley] and it just feels right to be at Arsenal.

“I’m hungry to keep growing and I know this is the right place for me to do that and compete for the biggest trophies. I can’t wait to get started and walk out at Emirates Stadium in front of all our supporters.”

Manager Jonas Eidevall added: “I’m delighted we’ve been able to bring Rosa to the club. She’s one of the most exciting young talents in the world and I’ve been a keen admirer of her game for a number of years. She plays with a fearlessness beyond her age and I know she has the hunger and mentality it takes to realise her potential here with Arsenal.”

The Sweden international is Arsenal’s fourth signing of the summer window, as she follows Mariona Caldentey, Daphne van Domselaar and youngster Sophie Harwood through the door.
