Liverpool to sell key player in order to fund a move for Anthony Gordon

Luis Diaz transfer openly discussed by Liverpool figures

Liverpool are not willing to give up in their pursuit of Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon.

The England international has been linked with a move to Anfield all summer and the Reds are not ready to give up on their interest in the former Everton player.

Gordon was reportedly being sold by Newcastle when they were facing Profit and Sustainability issues and they had offered the player to Liverpool.

However, after selling Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson, their financial issues were sorted and they decided to keep Gordon.

The Reds are still interested in signing him and according to Football Insider, they are willing to sell Luis Diaz for £50m to make way for Gordon.

The Colombian international has attracted interest from Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain this summer but those two clubs have moved on to other targets.

Liverpool are currently active in their chase of Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi but the report mentions Arne Slot’s intention of signing a left-side attacker and Gordon fits the profile of the player they are looking for.

Luis Diaz is being linked with a move away from Liverpool.

The Reds are “active” in their interest in Gordon and they are still expected to make a move for him this summer.

With only three weeks left in the transfer window to shut down, the Merseyside club cannot waste any more time and they need to act swiftly if they want to get a deal done for Gordon.

Liverpool have still not made a new signing

Liverpool are the only team in Europe’s top five leagues, as mentioned in the report, not to sign a player this summer.

They are working behind the scenes to sign their transfer targets this summer after seeing their Premier League rivals strengthen their squads.

Although Diaz has been a successful signing for the Reds since joining the club but they are looking for a younger alternative of him and Gordon has been identified by them as the player to replace him.
