Tottenham complete signing of Dominic Solanke

Tottenham Hotspur have signed striker Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth for what is believed to be a club-record fee.

Reports claim Spurs will pay up to £65m for the striker, who grabbed 19 Premier League goals last season for the Cherries – only Erling Haaland, Cole Palmer and Alexander Isak finished ahead of him in the scoring charts.

Ange Postecoglou was insistent on improving his options up front heading into the summer transfer window, and doubled down on his desire to bring in a new striker in recent weeks.

He has now got his man after Solanke’s move from Bournemouth was confirmed on Saturday, with the one-time England international signing a six-year contract.

Solanke leaves Bournemouth after five-and-a-half years on the south coast. He joined the Cherries back in 2019 from Liverpool, who will receive a significant portion of the transfer fee after agreeing to a 20% sell-on clause.

During his half-decade with the Cherries, Solanke scored 77 goals in 216 matches. After struggling to make an impression under Eddie Howe during his first 18 months at the Vitality Stadium, Solanke found his feet after Bournemouth’s relegation to the Championship before becoming a prolific Premier League striker after achieving promotion.

The 26-year-old becomes Tottenham’s first senior striker signing since the exit of Harry Kane to Bayern Munich last August.
