Tottenham ‘to break transfer record’ as Dominic Solanke deal agreed

Dominic Solanke

Tottenham Hotspur have finalised an agreement with Bournemouth over the imminent signing of striker Dominic Solanke, a report has revealed.

A deal was struck between the two clubs earlier in the week and personal terms had already been agreed, but there was still some work to do before both clubs were prepared to fully sign off on the transfer.

According to Fabrizio Romano, that final handshake has arrived and Bournemouth have given Solanke permission to travel for a medical.

The deal is worth £65m including add-ons, which would make Solanke the most expensive signing in Tottenham history, eclipsing the £63m agreement for midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, who recently left the club on a free transfer.

The presence of add-ons suggests Spurs have declined to trigger the £65m release clause in Solanke’s contract and have instead struck a separate deal.

Unsurprisingly, the deal also represents a potential club-record sale for Bournemouth.

Solanke has agreed the terms of a six-year contract with Spurs which will be finalised once his medical has been conducted.

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou has not shied away from his desire to find a new striker who compliments his team and has evidently been won over by Solanke, who struck 19 goals in 38 Premier League games last season.

Should all go to plan, Solanke will become the fourth signing of the summer for Spurs, who have already welcomed Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray and Yang Min-hyeok to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
