Women’s Soccer Exhibition Canceled Thursday; Duke Ranked No. 24 in Preseason


DURHAM, N.C. Due to Tropical Storm Debby, the Duke women’s soccer exhibition match Thursday, Aug. 8 against DC Power FC has been canceled.  The Blue Devils will next open the 2024 regular season Thursday, Aug. 15 on the road at Ohio State with a 7 p.m., kick.
 
Duke is coming off an impressive 9-0 exhibition win Monday against Furman as nine different Blue Devils scored and five Blue Devils assisted on goals. 
 
The United Soccer Coaches released its preseason national rankings this week with Duke tabbed No. 24 nationally.  A total of seven ACC teams were ranked in the poll – Florida State (1), Stanford (2), Clemson (5), Pittsburgh (7), North Carolina (8) and Notre Dame (15).
 
Duke has been preseason ranked for the ninth time out of the last 10 seasons under head coach Robbie Church
 
The Blue Devils’ second opponent of the season, Nebraska, is ranked No. 6 nationally and is coming off a 17-4-3 ledger a season ago.  Duke features five opponents on its 2024 schedule that are preseason ranked – Stanford (2), Clemson (5), Nebraska (6), North Carolina (8) and Notre Dame (15).
