Utah Soccer Returns to Action Against Air Force

SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah women’s soccer team took the field for the first time in 2024 on Monday afternoon, when they hosted the Air Force Falcons in an exhibition match at Ute Field.

The Utes and Falcons battled through three 30-minute halves in the first of two exhibitions at Ute Field in 2024.

“Today was a great opportunity for our team to play against outside competition early in this preseason,” said coach Hideki Nakada, “and I’m really happy with what I got to see.

“We created numerous quality opportunities and were able to put away a few, while limiting their chances. Again, it’s still early and we have much work to do, but this was a very solid showing for this new group and I’m excited for them to continue to work toward our season opener on August 15th against Gonzaga.”

2024 Schedule

Monday’s meeting with the Falcons represented the first of 13 home contests on the slate for Utah. The next opportunity fans will have to cheer on the Utes at home will come on August 10, when they host Southern Utah in another exhibition contest. Utah’s official 2024 home opener will pit them against Gonzaga on Aug. 15 at 7 p.m. and the Utes’ first Big 12 match will take place at Ute Field on Sept. 12, when they’ll square off with the Arizona Wildcats.
