Arsenal are holding out for a fee of £30m (€35m) if they are to sell Eddie Nketiah this summer, a report has claimed.
Nketiah saw his game time with the Gunners dwindle last season. Though the striker played 37 games across all competitions, he completed 468 fewer minutes than the previous campaign and was largely restricted to appearances from the bench.
Marseille have already seen two bids, the second worth £23m (€27m), for Nketiah rejected by Arsenal, and Fabrizio Romano reports the French side remain a little short of the north Londoners’ valuation.
As such, Marseille could abandon their pursuit of Nketiah, despite agreeing personal terms with him. Borussia Dortmund forward Youssoufa Moukoko wants to join OM, and the two clubs are in talks over a loan deal with an option to buy.
Nketiah has been linked with various other teams but Marseille are the only one to have advanced their interest so far this summer.
Should Nketiah stay at Arsenal, he could be overlooked once again. During the latter stages of the 2023/24 season, Mikel Arteta opted to use Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus up front, while winger Leandro Trossard also filled in through the middle.
Nketiah, who turned 25 in May, has been capped once by England but was overlooked for their Euro 2024 squad. He has scored 38 goals in 168 matches for Arsenal, including six last season.
On Friday, Arsenal said goodbye to fellow academy graduate Emile Smith Rowe, who signed for Fulham for a fee that could rise to £34m. In terms of incomings, the Gunners have brought in Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna and tied David Raya down to a permanent deal following his loan spell from Brentford, with Real Sociedad’s Mikel Merino their next target.
