Soccer Programs Named United Soccer Coaches College Team Academic Award Winners


PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Rutgers men’s and women’s soccer teams have been named United Soccer Coaches College Team Academic Award winners for the 2023-24 academic year. 

 

The men’s team posted a team grade point average of 3.22 to receive the honor for an 11th consecutive year. Overall, RU has garnered academic honors from the organization 16 times in program history. The women scored a 3.47 GPA and appeared on the United Soccer Coaches academic award list for the 14th consecutive year. 

 

A total of 405 soccer teams (168 men, 237 women) were awarded the honor this year. Of that total, Rutgers was one of 102 schools that had both their men’s and women’s programs recognized. 

 

United Soccer Coaches annually celebrates the academic achievements of high school and college soccer teams whose student-athletes collectively demonstrate a commitment to excellence in their studies over the course of a full academic year. College Team Academic Award recipients are active members of the United Soccer Coaches College Services Program with a composite grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all players on the roster for the 2023-24 academic year. 

 

The men boasted four Big Ten Distinguished Scholars, including Aidan Flynn and Ola Maeland with perfect 4.0 GPAs, and a total of 18 Fall Academic All-Big Ten selections. Four women were Big Ten Distinguished Scholars all with 4.0 GPAs, Sara Brocious, Becci Fluchel, Allison Lynch and Jessica Schildkraut, while 16 Scarlet Knights earned Academic All-Big Ten.
