Kylian Mbappe reveals position he wants to play at Real Madrid

Kylian Mbappe has insisted he will happily play anywhere across Real Madrid’s front line next season.

After the Frenchman’s move to Madrid was made official earlier this summer, questions were immediately asked of how he would fit in at the Santiago Bernabeu in an attacking lineup which already features left-sided forward Vinicius Junior and stars like Jude Bellingham and Rodrygo.

During his first press conference following his unveiling on Tuesday, Mbappe admitted he will play wherever manager Carlo Ancelotti wants him to.

“Wherever the manager wants,” he told the media in fluent Spanish. “I can play in the three positions up front. I’ve done it at PSG, Monaco and the national team.

“That’s a detail for the journalists, but for me it’s not up for debate. I want to be on the pitch. I don’t care where. What I want is to help Real Madrid.”

He continued: “Vinicius is a great player and I am very happy to play with him. Also with Rodrygo and with everyone. Great players are made to play together. I will have no problems playing with Vinicius. He had a perfect last few seasons. Now I have to adapt to Vinicius, Rodrygo and everyone to help them.”

90min revealed in June that Mbappe had already spoken with Vinicius in an attempt to build a relationship between the two as soon as possible.

“The French players used to tell me [to come to Madrid] a lot,” Mbappe admitted. “Vinicius also sent me messages: ‘Come to Madrid, we’ll score goals together’.

“I don’t need those messages to know that this is the best team in the world, but it’s a pleasure to feel loved.

“I’m looking forward to playing with the players. Vini, Bellingham… they’re great players, but they all are. I met some of my teammates this morning. I’m very happy to be a Real Madrid player.”
