Spurs want Euro 2024 star Postecoglou thinks will 'complement' Maddison

Working with British TV broadcasters to help cover the EUROs in Germany, Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou has a front-row seat when it comes to observing some of the talents on display, and according to recent reports, one player the Australian is a big fan of is PSG and Spain midfielder, Fabian Ruiz.

Already a standout performer during this summer’s international tournament, Ruiz, 28, has played an integral part in Spain’s push for what could be their fourth European Championship.

The 28-year-old has registered two goals and two assists from three starts, including a stellar performance in the Round of Last 16 against Georgia.

However, and somewhat surprisingly, according to a recent report from French outlet Foot Mercato, despite Ruiz’s eye-catching form and Luis Enrique’s desire to keep him, PSG are open to selling him in the current transfer window.

Spurs interested in signing Fabian Ruiz

Although interest in Ruiz will be plentiful, according to Fichajes, one of the clubs strongly pursuing the Spaniard is Spurs.

PSG could sell Fabian Ruiz this summer.

Believed to view Ruiz as the ideal midfield partner to ‘complement’ James Maddison’s game, Postecoglou would like Daniel Levy to sign the PSG number eight.

Negotiations, of course, will not be easy though — PSG are a side in major transition following Kylian Mbappe’s recent move to Real Madrid — and with Ruiz showing off on the biggest stage, Spurs can expect their French rivals to extract maximum value from the midfielder’s potential departure.

Nevertheless, for Spurs fans, being linked with the Spain international is an exciting prospect and helps demonstrate the direction in which Postecoglou wants to take the team.

Ruiz has three years left on his contract and, according to Transfermarkt, is currently valued at around £30 million.
