Lucia Garcia leaves Man Utd, Spurs keep Sweden international

Annie Wilding and Eleanor Dale are set to leave the club this summer

The women’s football summer transfer window opened this week, and within days we were faced with shock departures, hinting at some major shake ups for certain clubs.

Manchester United have confirmed the loss of captain Katie Zelem and are reportedly very close to also announcing the departure of goalkeeper Mary Earps.

The major exits comes during a time of extreme uncertainty for the club, after comments from co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe revealed an apparent low priority of the women’s team.

However, although tensions undoubtedly high for those inside the club, it hasn’t stopped them scouting out potential new talent to remain strong amid departures. 90min revealed this week that United are weighing up a shock move for Manchester City winger Chloe Kelly. They also remain hopeful of striking a deal with Brighton’s top scorer Elisabeth Terland

Only time will tell as to whether the club’s recent behaviour has tarnished its reputation.

Outside the WSL, Australia’s Hayley Raso confirmed her exit from Real Madrid, triggering interest from Arsenal, PSG and Chelsea. And already reported on by 90min, Lucy Bronze officially announced she would be parting ways with Barcelona this summer when her contract comes to an end.

Annie Wilding and Eleanor Dale will leave Everton when their contracts end this month.

Wilding has been with the club since the age of 12, with the defender making her professional debut when she started against Durham in the Conti Cup in 2022.

Striker Dale joined the Toffees in February of this year on a short-term contract and went on to feature six times in the WSL. News of both departures comes a week after the club confirmed veteran forward Toni Duggan will also be leaving.

Amanda Nilden has penned a permanent deal with Tottenham Hotspur after joining the club on loan from Juventus.

The move will see Nilden stay in north London until 2027, after joining Spurs in January. The 25-year-old started in ten consecutive matches, making four starts in the Women’s FA Cup.

Speaking about why she wanted to stay at the club, Nilden said: “It’s a club that has grown a lot over the last few years, they are aiming for the top of the league, and I think, this year we have grown a lot.”
