Men's Soccer Announces 2024 Campaign

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Head coach Jim McElderry announced the 2024 Rutgers men’s soccer schedule on Tuesday afternoon. The Scarlet Knights will play seven nonconference matches in addition to 10 Big Ten contests for a full fall slate.

“We have a very competitive 2024 schedule highlighted by our 10 Big Ten Conference matches,” McElderry said. “We have some new opponents this season with us renewing our local rivalry with an excellent Seton Hall program. This Big Ten schedule will again be one of the elite conferences in the country. Our two new conference additions of UCLA at home and Washington away, make 2024 even more special. I know our players are working hard this summer to make sure we are ready. The season can not come quick enough for our group.”

The Scarlet Knights will then officially kick off the 2024 season with three home nonconference rematches from a year ago, welcoming Northeastern (Aug. 22), Delaware (Aug. 26) and Princeton (Aug. 30). All three matches will begin at 7 p.m.

The team will travel for its first of two nonconference road trips, first to Lehigh on Monday, Sept. 2, for a 7 p.m. bout. This will be the 43rd meeting between the two teams with an even 20-20-3 all-time record. Their first meeting was in 1940 but the most recent was in 2021.

Rutgers will rekindle another long-standing series and in-state rivalry as it hosts Seton Hall on Monday, Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. In a 63-year span from the first meeting in 1946 to the last in 2009, the teams met 54 times. The Scarlet Knights do own the all-time edge against the Pirates, 33-16-5.

From there, RU will stay home to open the Big Ten portion of the schedule, as it brings in reigning conference tournament champions Indiana on Monday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. Rutgers has not fallen to the Hoosiers at home since 2021.

Then the team will hit the road for consecutive games against Yale (Sept. 17) at 7 p.m. and Ohio State (Sept. 22) with the start time announced at a later date.

The Scarlet Knights will return to Yurcak Field to face Michigan on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. before hitting the road for another two-game away stint. RU will trek to see league foes Wisconsin (Oct. 4) and Penn State (Oct. 7). Both matches will begin at 7 p.m.
