Women’s Soccer Unveils 2024 Schedule



Golden Bears Set For First ACC Season

BERKELEY – The California women’s soccer team announced its 2024 schedule Tuesday in preparation for its first season in the ACC, well regarded as one of the top conferences in the sport. The schedule details 12 matches at Edwards Stadium and a handful of contests against national contenders.

 

The Golden Bears take the field for the first time on Aug. 10 for an exhibition at Saint Mary’s before hosting UC San Diego in the season opener onAug. 15.

 

Conference play begins with a road trip to NC State (Sept. 19) and Wake Forest (Sept. 22), followed by Cal’s inaugural ACC home opener against Pitt (Sept. 26), which finished as the sixth-ranked team in the nation last year after a trip to the Elite Eight round of the NCAA Championship.

 

Senior Day is set for Oct. 27 when the Bears host fellow ACC newcomer SMU for the first time since 2009.

 

The schedule is not short of competition, with six teams featured that made the 2023 Women’s College Cup including Santa Clara, Gonzaga, North Carolina, Notre Dame, and rival Stanford, which finished as the national runner-up. All six teams also finished the season ranked among the top 25 nationally.

 

Cal finished over .500 for the third straight season in 2023, going 7-6-6. Nine of the Bears’ everyday starters are returning to the pitch from last year’s roster, including all three All-Pac-12 honorees – Karlie Lema, Teagan Wy and Mia Fontana.
