Nottingham Forest are finalising the £3.4 million signing of Corinthians goalkeeper Carlos Miguel.

The 25-year old Brazilian is expected to fly in for a medical this week after Forest triggered his release clause.

At 6ft 8in, Miguel is expected to be the tallest player in the Premier League next season.

He is an inch taller than former Liverpool and Tottenham giant Peter Crouch.

Young Chelsea keeper Lucas Bergstrom is 6ft 9in but the 21-year-old is likely to be loaned out for the third season in a row.

Forest fielded three keepers during the 2023-24 campaign.

They began the season with USA international Matt Turner as their No 1 before Belgian Matz Sels signed for £5m in February.

Sels started in Forest’s final nine fixtures following seven mid-season cameos by Greek stopper Odysseas Vlachodimos.

Forest finished 17th in the Premier League last season as they avoided relegation by a margin of six points.

That was after the City Ground outfit were docked four points for breaching the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules.

The fixtures for the 2024-25 edition of the Premier League will be released on Tuesday morning.
