Overbeck Helps Lead U.S. Women to TST Championship


DURHAM – Duke women’s soccer assistant coach Carla Overbeck helped lead the U.S. Women to the TST Tournament Championship on Monday evening at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.  With the victory, the squad took home $1,000,000 in the inaugural event for the women. 
 
Overbeck and the U.S. Women defeated the North Carolina Courage, 6-3, in the championship to take home the title. 
 
In the group stage, the U.S. Women totaled a 2-1 ledger to move on to semifinals where the squad posted a 4-0 win over Tampa Bay Sun FC. 
 
Overbeck, one of the top players in U.S. Women’s Soccer history, enters her 33rd season as an assistant coach with the Blue Devils. 
 
Duke also featured six alumnx on the SoccerHead FC squad that posted a tournament-opening win over Tampa Bay Sun FC as Mackenzie Pluck registered the game-winning goal in extra time.  SoccerHead FC ended up with a 1-2 ledger and did not advance to the semifinals.  Also on the SoccerHead FC squad was Kat McDonald, Gilda Doria, Ashton Miller, Schuyler DeBree and Mollie Pathman
