Sweden Youth National Team Talent Vera Blom Joins Gator Soccer

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida soccer adds some international talent to the 2024 Gator roster in Sweden Youth National Team midfielder Vera Blom.

Blom brings international experience with Sweden’s youth national teams and started every 2024 match for IF Brommapojkarna of the first tier Damallsvenskan league. Part of the Sweden youth national program for several years, Blom started five matches for Sweden in round 1 and 2 action of 2023-24 UEFA European Women’s Under-19 Championships.

“We are ecstatic with the addition of Vera!  I’ve had a long history of coaching players from Sweden, and Vera has arguably the most impressive playing background. With her experience with Sweden national teams and her Bromma team, Vera has played against a very high level for several years now,” Florida Head Coach Samantha Bohon said. “She’s excited for the opportunity to study and play in the states while being supported with the pro-like resources at Florida.”

Blom brings the number of newcomers on the Gators’ 2024 roster to eight. She joins the four freshmen signed in the fall of 2023 plus three transfers – Emilee Hauser, Kaela Standish and Delaney Tellex.
