Wolves have pipped Atletico Madrid to agree a £12.7million deal with Sporting Braga for Rodrigo Gomes.

The 20-year-old can play as a winger or wing-back and impressed last season on loan at Estoril where he scored seven goals in 30 games.

Gomes is due in England this week ahead of undergoing a medical and agreeing a five year contract.

He has been capped four times at under-21 level for Portugal, scoring an impressive three goals in that time. 

Gomes will become Wolves’ second signing of the summer after completing the permanent transfer of Tommy Doyle from Manchester City for £4.3m.

Wolves have also been looking to add a striker and have discussed Southampton’s Che Adams but face competition from Nottingham Forest.

Adams scored 16 goals in 41 Championship appearances as the Saints gained promotion back to the Premier League. 

The Scotland international’s contract at St Mary’s end at the end of this month but the club revealed talks are ‘ongoing regarding potential new deals.’
