Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has expressed his insecurity over his future at St James’ Park due to Financial Fair Play, despite being happy at the club.

Guimaraes, 26, has become the Magpies general in the middle of the park since joining the club in January 2022 and is adored by the Geordie faithful.

After another stellar season under Eddie Howe, transfer speculation has ramped up with clubs such as Manchester City, Arsenal, and Paris Saint-Germain interested in Guimaraes’ signature.

The Brazilian star has a £100million release clause in his contract until the end of June, and with the threat of the Premier League‘s financial rules over Newcastle’s head, his future at the club has come into doubt.

‘Look, my future, to be honest, is in God’s hands,’ said Guimaraes.

He has caught the eye of the Premier League’s top two, among others, and despite his contentment with life in the North East, Guimaraes is flattered by the potential interest.

‘Obviously it’s very nice to have your name linked with big clubs, it shows that I’m doing my job well, but I’m not worried about it at all.
