Utah Soccer Rounds Out Fall Schedule with Nine Non-Conference Matches

SALT LAKE CITY – University of Utah women’s soccer coach Hideki Nakada has announced the non-conference portion of his team’s 2024 schedule and it will consist of nine total matches, eight of which will take place within the friendly confines of Ute Field.

The Utes’ will begin the 2024 campaign with a pair of home exhibitions, first against Air Force on August 5, followed by an August 11 match against the Southern Utah Thunderbirds. The first official match of the regular season for Utah will take place at Ute Field on August 15, when they’ll entertain the Gonzaga Bulldogs, with kick-off scheduled for 7 p.m. It will be the first meeting between Utah and Gonzaga since 2010 and the first time the programs have met in Utah since 2004, when the Utes earned a 2-1 victory.

One week later, the Grand Canyon University Antelopes will come to Salt Lake City for an August 22nd matchup, followed by an August 28 home tilt against Utah State. The Utes will then begin September by hosting the Weber State Wildcats on Sept. 1.

Utah’s first road match of 2024 will take them all the way to Baton Rouge, La., where they’ll take the field against the LSU Tigers for the first time ever. It will be the Utes’ first road match against an SEC club since they visited Alabama in 2019 and they’ll be aiming for their first win over a school from that conference since 2004.

The final two bouts on Utah’s non-conference fight card will pit them against Utah Valley on Sept. 8 and Idaho State on Sept. 15.

Overall, the Utes’ 2024 season will consist of 18 regular season matches, 11 of which will be contested on the team’s home field. Utah’s conference schedule will get underway on Sept. 12, when they host the Arizona Wildcats for their first-ever contest in Big 12 competition. They’ll begin the postseason on Oct. 30 in Kansas City, Mo., the home of the 2024 Big 12 Tournament.
