Liberty Road Match at Chattanooga Ends in Stalemate

Chattanooga, TN – The Greenville Liberty Soccer Club drew the Chattanooga Red Wolves 0-0 on Sunday night at CHI Memorial Stadium in its first away match of the season. The shutout puts Greenville third among the South Central Division and 1-1-1 across its three matches.


Greenville’s defense shone early on, with goalkeeper Kenzie Solomon making a crucial save inside the box in the 18th minute, keeping the scoreline intact. Just five minutes later, the Liberty defenders once again stood firm, stopping a dangerous attempt from the Red Wolves. Chattanooga had a promising opportunity in the 28th minute with a free kick, but the Liberty defense successfully neutralized the threat. Shortly after, the Liberty had their own chance from a free kick in the 30th minute, but the Red Wolves’ keeper made a decisive save to keep the game scoreless.

Eager to find a breakthrough, Greenville brought on a multitude of substitutions at the half with Jaleah Simmons, Morgan De Barros, Macie Mietz, and Henley Grunst. In the 54th minute, Liberty goalkeeper Grun s t showcased her skills by punching the ball over the crossbar, deflecting one of nine shots on goal. The Liberty nearly broke the deadlock in the 70th minute but Sarah Jacobs’ shot was expertly saved by the Red Wolves’ keeper. In the 79th minute, the Liberty came close to scoring again with a header from a nother free kick that just missed the target, narrowly avoiding a lead for the away team.

Despite the goalless outcome, the Liberty returns home with a point and 1-1-1 overall record. Greenville’s next match will be Friday, May 31 st at 7 :00 PM in Paladin Stadium. Tickets are on sale now.
