The Story:

Orlando City will travel to San Jose for the first time in nearly five years. The last matchup between the Lions and Earthquake out west occurred on August 31, 2019. It also marks the first matchup between the two teams since June 22, 2021, a game at INTER&Co stadium that Orlando City won 5-0.

Orlando City midfielder Nico Lodeiro has averaged one goal contribution per game against the Earthquakes in his MLS career, scoring six goals and providing seven assists in 13 appearances against the Quakes during his time with Seattle Sounders.

Facundo Torres’ next goal will be his 32nd across all competitions, giving him sole possession of second all-time in Orlando City history. Duncan McGuire is also one goal away from tying Chris Mueller (22) for sixth on Orlando City’s all-time scoring list

Quote of the Week:

“A really short period to prepare the game, but it’s the way that it is. We’re traveling to the west coast, we had a very good flight, the boys look very fresh and today we will train in the evening to keep our preparation and to keep recovering the team. So basically, that has been the routine so far and we’re just trying to get in and use this momentum to keep adding points.”

– Head Coach Oscar Pareja
