Memphis 901 FC News Release

The two-game road swing continues for Memphis 901 FC as they look to extend their unbeaten streak at El Paso Locomotive FC on Friday, May 17 at Southwest University Park.

Memphis extended their league unbeaten streak to three matches last time out with a dramatic 2-2 draw at Monterey Bay FC on Saturday featuring a second-half rally with scores from Bruno Lapa and Marlon.

“It was a good performance at Monterey,” Head Coach Stephen Glass said. :It’s good to come back and feel like you’re disappointed not to get the three points. It shows how far we’ve come.”

The two Brazlians have been the engine of the Memphis attack combining for six goals and four assists in the last three weeks of play.

The rise of the two attackers has resulted in an offensive explosion for the Beale Street Boys with +6 goal differential in the last three matches while ranking fourth in the league with 14.2 shots per match. Memphis tallied 21 shots in Monterey, the most this season since they recorded the same amount against Tampa.

“The work rate for the whole team has been sensational,” said Glass. “They get the reward for that too with the individual accolades. It’s something we look forward to. When the players get performances and results, they want to keep building with as many games as we can get. The players are enjoying it.”

El Paso sits at the bottom of the table with only five points in 10 matches, but grabbed their first victory of the season with a 2-0 victory over Loudoun United last time out. Tumi Moshobane set the pace with a first-minute goal before setting up Eric Calvillo for a score later in the first half.

Their side will be hungry for another three points at home as the Beale Street Boys work to continue their own climb up the Western Conference table.

“We just need to continue in the vein of form and be determined to score as many goals as we’ve been scoring,” said Glass. “We can slightly tighten up at the back, but we’ve been pretty good overall.”

Kickoff for the match at Southwest University Park is set for 8 p.m. CT. Fans can watch the local broadcast on WMC 5 Plus with a national broadcast available on ESPN+. The Beale Street Boys return to AutoZone Park to host Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC on Saturday, May 25 at 7:30 p.m. CT followed by the first post-match firework show in club history.
