Atletico Ottawa News Release

OTTAWA, ON – Atlético Ottawa’s two-match road trip in British Columbia culminates on Friday night with a clash against Pacific FC on Vancouver Islands (KO 10pm ET, live on OneSoccer). Both teams, who clash three times in May, remain unbeaten in all competitions this season as Ottawa and Pacific continue to share the top spot of the Canadian Premier League (CPL) table.

Here’s everything you need to know before Friday’s clash on Vancouver Island.

Atlético Ottawa is unbeaten in all competitions at the start of the 2024 season (4-3-0).

Atlético was held to a 1-1 draw last weekend, away to Vancouver FC.

Striker Rubén del Campo made three goals from his last three CPL starts, giving Ottawa the lead early in the second half before Vancouver’s Alejandro Díaz equalized with a bullet header 15 minutes later.

Del Campo’s three goals have all broken the deadlock (vs Halifax, Valour and Vancouver).

The point was enough to move Ottawa to the top of the table, level with Pacific FC.

Del Campo has been named to the CPL ‘Team of the Week’ for the first time this season.

Del Campo leads the league in goals (3).

Defender Ameri Didić leads the league in passes (319).

Midfielder Manny Aparicio leads the league in tackles won (13) and recoveries (33).

Pacific FC has started the season strongly, sitting top of the CPL table with Ottawa and with the best defence in the league (3-2-0).

Head Coach James Merriman’s side are yet to concede a goal in the regular season, with 20-year-old goalkeeper Emil Gazdov’s league-leading four (4) clean sheets.

No other goalkeeper has kept more than one (1).

Ottawa and Pacific will clash three times in May, with the return leg of the TELUS Canadian Championship quarter-final taking place in BC on Wednesday, May 29.

The first-leg ended in a goalless draw at TD Place (0-0).

Ottawa returns to TD Place on Saturday, May 25, as the Toonie Hot Dog match returns.

Atlético clashes with Forge FC for the first time this season (KO 3pm ET, live on OneSoccer).

May 25 was recently declared “World Football Day” by the United Nations.

Record head-to-head (all-time): 4W-6D-5L; 15 goals scored, 18 goals conceded.
