Football fans predict who will win the FA Cup in YouGov poll

Football fans have predicted that Manchester City will beat inner-city rivals Manchester United in the 2024 FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium.

For the second year in a row, fans are set to be treated to a Manchester derby in the FA Cup final. Last season’s showpiece event was won by an all-conquering Man City team, with the Citizens hitting the front in record time in the final thanks to a goal from Ilkay Gundogan, and never looking back – securing a 2-1 win thanks to another goal from their then-captain Gundogan.

The FA Cup was one of three major trophies Pep Guardiola’s side won last season, also collecting the Premier League and UEFA Champions League to complete a historic treble.

While not on for another treble this season thanks to their quarter-final exit at the hands of Real Madrid in the Champions League, City could be set to complete a domestic double in 2023/24. As well as booking their place in the FA Cup final, Guardiola’s side are currently top of the Premier League heading into the final weekend of the season.

On the other side of Manchester, its fair to say that their city rivals have endured contrasting fortunes in 2023/24.

Man Utd have suffered through a difficult second season under manager Erik ten Hag, losing a whopping 14 Premier League games and suffering an embarrassing group stage exit in the Champions League.

The Red Devils have, however, saved some of their best form for the FA Cup – notably beating Liverpool in a famous quarter-final at Old Trafford.

Despite that, in a poll conducted by YouGov football fans have unanimously predicted that Man City will win this season’s FA Cup final on May 25.

A huge 94% of fans polled chose Man City as the team they think will win the trophy, with Man Utd garnering a measly 6% of votes.
