LOS ANGELES – Angel City Football Club (ACFC) today announced the hiring of Mark Wilson as the club’s first-ever Technical Director. Wilson will join Head Coach Becki Tweed, First Assistant Coach Eleri Earnshaw, Assistant Coach Lee Nguyen, Goalkeeping Coach Omar Zeeni, Performance Analyst Omar Blitz, and Technical Assistant Coach Mykell Bates.


“Bringing in a Technical Director is a key hire and Mark’s background and experience will only elevate our club’s development – for both players and staff,” said ACFC General Manager Angela Hucles Mangano. “We’re nicely positioned to be more proactive in sporting strategies and more efficient in their execution with Mark in this role. The structure we’re building with a Technical Director is unique to our league, yet I won’t be surprised to see more trending in this direction.”

Wilson brings to the club an extraordinary resume as a retired professional soccer player who’s made first-team appearances for Manchester United in the Premier League, Champions League, and the World Club Cup in Brazil during his seven-year stint, where he aided the club win two English Championships and one Champions League title.

In 2005, WIlson made his Major League Soccer (MLS) debut for FC Dallas, where he earned 23 match appearances, one goal and assisted the club in reaching the semi-finals of the 2006 MLS Cup Playoffs. Originally from Scunthorpe, England, the central midfielder also represented his country at every level up to and including England U21.

In addition to his glorious career as a player, Wilson holds a Master’s of Science degree in Sports Directorship and has held coaching positions for the New York Red Bull USL 2 team and the Colorado Rapids Women’s WPSL team, most notably taking the Rapids Women to a WPSL national final in 2022.
