Langford, BC – Pacific FC today announced midfielder Sean Young has signed a two-year contract with the Tridents ahead of making his 100th appearance in all competitions for the club on Friday, April 19 in a home match against Valour FC at Starlight Stadium.

The new contract will see Young remain with the Tridents for the 2025 and 2026 Canadian Premier League (CPL) seasons, with a club option for 2027.

Young signed his first pro contract with Pacific in 2020. A product of the youth soccer system in Victoria, having represented Bays United Youth Football Club, the Vancouver Island Wave Program and the Victoria Highlanders, he was the first local player to make the jump to the CPL.

On Friday, Young will become Pacific’s first player to reach 100 appearances in all competitions when he steps on the field for the Tridents against Valour. Kickoff of that match is at 7 p.m. PT.

“We are happy to sign a new contract with Sean Young and excited celebrate his 100th game at our club on Friday night,” said James Merriman, Head Coach, Pacific FC.

“As a homegrown player here on Vancouver Island, Sean is a clear example of the opportunity provide by the Canadian Premier League for local players. We are proud of that legacy, and it is appropriate that he will become our first player to reach 100 games with Pacific. This is exciting for our Trident Development Program, our Vancouver Island Wave players and the overall pathway for aspiring young talents here on the Island.”

Last year, Young tallied a total of 2432 minutes, contributing four goals and four assists.

Now entering his fifth season with the team, Young’s contract extension ensures he will continue to be a fan favourite for Vancouver Islanders for years to come.
