FC Cincinnati Announce Roster for 2023 Preseason

FC Cincinnati were handed their first loss of the regular season Saturday night by New York, 1-2, at TQL Stadium. The Orange and Blue end the night with a record of 3-1-3 (12 points) as they fall to fifth in the Eastern Conference standings. Four teams are currently tied with 12 points in the Eastern Conference, as results stand. The Red Bulls picked up three points on the road to improve to 4-1-2 (14 points) and take over the top spot in the East.

Cincinnati saw their lone goal of the game come in the third minute off the head of Yuya Kubo, from a ball served in from Luciano “Lucho” Acosta. Frankie Amaya evened up the score for the Red Bulls at 1-1 in the 19th minute. Evan Louro kept things tied going into half with a penalty save against Lewis Morgan in first half stoppage time. New York broke the tie midway through the second half, as Dante Vanzeir found the match winner in the 60th minute.

Next up for FC Cincinnati is a trip to Canada on Saturday, April 13, when the Orange and Blue face CF Montréal. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET and the match will stream on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV. Fans can also listen to match on ESPN 1530 in Cincinnati and iHeart.

AS IT HAPPENED

CIN: Yuya Kubo, GOAL – 3′ (1-0) – The Orange and Blue came out of the gates firing, as DeAndre Yedlin started the charge with a shot that was saved by Red Bull goalkeeper Carlos Coronel. Lucho Acosta kept the play alive off the initial save and crossed a pass to Kubo, who then put a header into the back of the net for his second goal of the season.

RBNY: Frankie Amaya, GOAL – 19′ (1-1) – The Red Bulls answered quickly, as Dante Vanzeir found an open Amaya about 20 yards from goal. Amaya came set and delivered a strike past the outstretched arm of Evan Louro to even up the score.

RBNY: Dante Vanzeir, GOAL – 60′ (1-2) – Vanzeir broke the tie with his second goal contribution of the game. Vanzeir was able to curl in a shot from the Red Bull captain, Emil Forsberg, as he battled two Cincinnati defenders for the goal.

GAME NOTES

– Saturday marked the 16th meeting all-time between FC Cincinnati and the New York Red Bulls. The Orange and Blue trail the series 5-6-5.

– Former homegrown player for the New York Red Bulls, Evan Louro, made his first MLS career start in goal for the Orange and Blue in his eighth season.

– All seven of FC Cincinnati’s MLS matches this season have been tied at halftime. No other club has been tied at half…
