HOUSTON – Canada Soccer, the governing body for the sport in the country, announced today the induction of former Houston Dynamo FC midfielder Dwayne De Rosario, into the Canada Soccer Hall of Fame as part of the 2024 class.

De Rosario won two MLS Cup titles with the Dynamo (2006 and 2007) and would finish his career with four league titles, two Canadian Championships, one Supporters’ Shield and the 2013 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup trophy. The midfielder finished with 88 appearances in regular season and postseason play for the team and scored 26 goals in his three seasons with the Dynamo. De Rosario scored the game-winning goal in the 2007 MLS Cup final against the New England Revolution and was named Man of the Match following his performance.

The Scarborough, Ontario native was named the Canadian Player of the Year four times. He finished his MLS career with six MLS Best XI awards and was named to seven MLS All-Star Games. He was also named the 2011 MLS Most Valuable Player after scoring 15 goals and tallying 11 assists in a campaign where he played for both the New York Red Bulls and D.C. United.

Internationally, he represented Canada in 81 matches and scored 22 goals. He won the 2000 Concacaf Gold Cup with Canada and would continue to represent his native country through 2015. In that time, he was named the Canadian Player of the Year four times (2005, 2006, 2007 and 2011).

He was inducted into the Canada Sports Hall of Fame in 2022 and the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame in 2019.
