KENT, WA – The Tacoma Stars scored two goals in the final minute of regulation to overcome a 4-2 deficit and force overtime against the Chihuahua Savage. After 10 minutes of extra play, the game was still even at 4-4 to send matters to shootouts to decide a winner.

The Stars and Savage were tied 1-1 after the first three rounds of shootouts. In the 4th round, Stars keeper Chris Toth was issued a blue card and back-up keeper Luis Birrueta was brought in to face a penalty kick to keep Tacoma’s hopes alive to extend the team’s winning streak.

Birrueta held his ground and picked up a huge save to extend the shootout another round. Justin Stinson stepped up for his second shootout attempt and for the second time, he scored against Diego Reynoso and sealed the win for the Stars.

With the win, the Stars won the sixth straight and set a new franchise record for consecutive wins.

Tacoma will close out their regular-season home schedule next Saturday against the Empire Strykers. Tickets are available at www.tacomastars.showare.com.
