New England holds the upper hand in the aggregate series after posting a dominant shutout victory in the first leg at Gillette Stadium on March 6. Nick Lima opened the scoring from his right back position for New England, netting his first goal with the club on DeJuan Jones’ assist. Following the connection between the Revolution’s outside defenders, forward Tomás Chancalay netted a brace and midfielder Esmir Bajraktarević opened his 2024 account to seal the win, which marked the Revolution’s highest scoring output in its 11 all-time Champions Cup matches. His attacking partner Carles Gil has also been finding the back of the net with two goals in MLS play. Gil has found the scoresheet in three of his last four appearances. The Spaniard needs only one more goal to become the fifth Revolution player with 40 goals and 40 assists in all competitions.
