San Antonio FC Adds Three to 2024 Roster on USL Academy Agreements

San Antonio FC Brings Back Cristian Parano for 2023 Season

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio FC has added forward Eduardo Fernandez and defenders Mateo Gonzales and Giovanni Padilla to the roster on academy agreements, pending league and federation approval.

“We are delighted to extend academy agreements to Gio, Eduardo and Mateo,” said SAFC Head Coach Alen Marcina. “As a club, we are dedicated to fostering the development of our young players within our community, offering an environment where talent is cultivated and earned opportunities are provided.”

The three SAFC Pro Academy members continue to further their development, all joining the first team last season on academy agreements as well, with Fernandez and Padilla entering their third season participating with the first team. The trio all made appearances for the first team during SAFC’s 2023 U.S. Open Cup run. The players suited up for each of SAFC’s three friendlies this preseason, joining other SAFC Pro Academy players as well as first-team players on the pitch.

SAFC opens the season this Saturday, hosting Loudoun United at Toyota Field. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT. Tickets are available at SanAntonioFC.com or the SAFC app, and the match will be streamed on ESPN+. The 2024 SAFC season is presented by Toyota.
