Liverpool have been browsing the market for a new goalkeeper as they are worried Caoimhin Kelleher may decided to leave the club during the summer transfer window.
Kelleher is under contract until 2026 but, Liverpool would be willing to sell the 24-year-old if their asking price of around £20million was met – meaning they would need a new No.2.
Jurgen Klopp has identified Sunderland’s Anthony Patterson as a potential replacement for Kelleher, should he leave the club during the summer – according to reports.
Patterson is just 23 years old but he’s already made over 100 appearances for Sunderland during his relatively short career and is being touted as one to watch for the future.
Therefore, Liverpool want to get in there before the other clubs come knocking. Klopp views the youngster as the perfect back-up to their No.1 goalkeeper, Alisson Becker.
