CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson defender Pape Mar Boye signed with the Phoenix Rising FC, oending league and federation approval, the club announced on Wednesday.
Boye, who was named the 2023 College Cup Defensive MVP, helped the Tigers to their fourth NCAA Championship after defeating Notre Dame, 2-1, on Dec. 11. Serving as the last line of defensive before the goalkeeper, Boye worked in a three-man system. The Dakar, Senegal native appeared and started in 20 matches for Clemson while contributing two goals off three shots on goal attempts through 1,749 minutes of action. Boye’s defense assisted in limiting opponents to only scoring three goals in the final seven games of the season to secure the NCAA Championship.
Boye joins the highest-level professional soccer franchise in Arizona history. The club, which was established in 2016, won the 2023 USL Championship, as well as the 2023, 2020, 2018 Western Conference Titles. He is the 18th player added to the 2024 roster, including being the seven defender in the mix.
