Richard Keys has offered a brutal critique of former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson after the revelation he is seeking a return to the Premier League from Saudi Arabia.

Mail Sport revealed Henderson will seriously consider any offers his Saudi Arabian club Al Ettifaq receive this month.

Henderson has struggled to settle since completed a £12million summer transfer from Liverpool.

In addition to adjusting to a different lifestyle the 33-year-old has also struggled with the heat and humidity of the playing conditions, while Al Ettifaq’s average attendance this season of 7,800 in a 35,000-capacity stadium has proved less than inspiring.

The abuse he has received for moving to Saudi in the first place, which has been criticised as an allegedly betrayal of the LGBTQ+ community, has also taken its toll.

Keys took aim at Henderson’s desire to return to the Premier League after just six months, with the beIN SPORTS presenter delivering a brutal verdict in his last blog.

‘So Jordan Henderson wants to end his ‘Saudi hell’ and return to the PL? Really?’ Keys wrote.

‘What makes him think he’s still good enough?

‘After six months playing the equivalent of League 1 football does he still have what it takes?’

Henderson had joined Al Ettifaq on a deal worth an estimated £700,000 per week back in July.

The midfielder teamed up with Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, who was named as manager of the Saudi Pro League side.

Gerrard has come under pressure following a dreadful run of form, which has seen his side fail to win in eight matches stretching back to November.

The run has seen Al Ettifaq slip to eighth in the table, despite significant investment in the squad during the summer.
