Houston Dash Acquire Allocation Money, Draft Pick, and NWSL Shield Winning Midfielder Belle Briede Following Trades

HOUSTON – The Houston Dash acquired midfielder Belle Briede, a natural third-round pick in the 2024 NWSL Draft pick and $60,000 in allocation funds following a trade with San Diego Wave FC. In exchange, Houston sent midfielder Sierra Enge to San Diego.


The Dash sent $50,000 in allocation funds to Bay FC in exchange for Enge in an earlier trade. Enge was selected by Bay FC in the 2024 NWSL Expansion Draft on Friday night.

Dash general manager Alex Singer said “Belle is a versatile midfielder and competitor who will bring winning experience to our team and locker room. We look forward to her joining our group.”

Briede joins the Dash after two seasons with San Diego, where she most recently helped the Wave win the 2023 NWSL Shield. The Alpharetta, Georgia native made 17 regular season starts in 28 career appearances and scored two goals for the Wave. Briede was selected No. 27 overall by San Diego in the 2022 NWSL Draft from Stanford University.

I’m grateful for the chance to continue my soccer career working with great staff and players. Looking forward to getting started playing in this amazing city!”

In five years with the Cardinal, Briede was twice crowned an NCAA Division-I National Champion in 2017 and 2019. Briede helped Stanford to three straight Pac-12 championships and three College Cup appearances from 2017-2018. The midfielder made 94 career appearances and 58 starts for the Cardinal scoring 10 goals and recording 11 assists. As a fifth-year senior, Briede was second on the team in scoring and had two game winning goals.

Briede represents the United States at the international level and participated in U15, U18, U19 and U20 camps with the United States Women’s National Team between 2013-2017.
