Church Announces Second Transfer Addition in Mia Oliaro

DURHAM – For the second time this week, Duke women’s soccer head coach Robbie Church has announced the addition of a transfer for the 2024 campaign.  Church welcomes Mia Oliaro, after completing one season with the North Carolina program.

Oliaro, a product of Chapel Hill, N.C., appeared in 20 matches off the bench for North Carolina this past season, while collecting one goal and one assist in 412 minutes.  The 5-9 forward/midfielder registered her first collegiate goal in a 3-1 victory over eighth-ranked Arkansas and posted an assist in the season opener versus California.

“I chose Duke for its elite academic and athletic qualities,” said Oliaro.  “I am looking forward to being challenged both in the classroom and on the soccer field, which will allow me to develop in all aspects of my life. I’m excited to join the Duke family of student-athletes, to be coached by the outstanding staff of Robbie, Kieran, Carla, and Lane, and to compete to win championships, build lifelong friendships and have fun with this amazing group of soccer players!”

A graduate of Chapel Hill H.S., Oliaro competed for the North Carolina Courage Academy.  She played for the NC Courage U-23 W-League over the summer and was tabbed the USLW Young Player of the Year, USWL First Team and the South Atlantic Division Player of the Year. She tallied five goals and six assists while leading the Courage to the championship match.

Oliaro represented the United States at the U-17 World Cup qualifying and CONCACAF Championship.  She also was named to the U.S. U-17 Youth National Team for a pair of friendlies in Spain in August of 2022.  Oliaro earned a spot on the U.S. U-17 Youth National Team World Cup roster but had to withdraw due to injury.

In 2021, Oliaro was voted ECNL Mid-Atlantic U-16 First Team All-Conference and 2022 ECNL Mid-Atlantic U-17 First Team All-Conference.  She was also tabbed to the 2021 ECNL Tennessee National Selection Games U-16/17 East All-Star team.
