Florida State, Clemson Advance to Women's College Cup

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – For the third time in four years, the Atlantic Coast Conference will send multiple teams to the NCAA Women’s College Cup, as top seeds Florida State and Clemson punched their tickets to the final four with quarterfinal victories over the weekend. The ACC is the only conference with multiple teams in this year’s national semifinals.

The College Cup will be played on December 1 and December 4 at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina, and televised on ESPNU.

The Seminoles are making their fourth straight and 14th overall trip to the College Cup, while the Tigers will make their first appearance in the national semifinals. FSU used three second-half goals from three different players to fend off conference foe Pitt, 3-0, in their quarterfinal matchup Friday evening in Tallahassee, Florida, while Clemson used a late game-winner from Caroline Conti in the 84th minute to edge second-seeded Penn State Saturday afternoon inside Historic Riggs Field.

Florida State and Clemson will meet for the third time this season as the teams met during the regular season on September 15 when the Seminoles defeated the Tigers, 4-2. The pair met again on November 5 in the title match of the 2023 Ally ACC Women’s Soccer Championship, as FSU claimed its fourth-straight conference title with a 2-1 win.

Third-seeded North Carolina fell 4-3 at top-seeded BYU in its national quarterfinal contest. The Cougars will meet future ACC member Stanford in the second national semifinal.

With Florida State and Clemson advancing, the ACC extends its streak to 19 straight appearances in the College Cup. Current membership has sent at least one team to every College Cup and won a total of 27 national championships, dating back to 1982. North Carolina has accounted for 21 titles, while Florida State and Notre Dame have won three apiece.
