November 20, 2023 – Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) – Dallas Sidekicks News Release
Allen, Texas – The Dallas Sidekicks have announced the re-signing of midfielder, Renato Torquato, until 2026. Last season marked Torquato’s first season with the Sidekicks and in the MASL. Per team and league guidelines, additional terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Torquato made his debut with the Sidekicks on December 29, 2022. Even though he did not score that night, Torquato still had 2 shots on target. On January 15, 2023, Torquato scored his first goal and recorded his first assist.
Torquato’s most notable game was on February 20 against the St. Louis Ambush when he scored two goals. Overall, Torquato played in 13 games and scored 5 goals and recorded 1 assist. Despite being a midfielder, he blocked 5 opponent shots.
When asked about what it means for Torquato to play for the Sidekicks, “Playing for the Sidekicks is important to me because the Sidekicks have a long tradition of Brazilian players playing for the club and I want to make all of them proud.”
“This season, my personal goal is to have double digits in assists and goals. Hopefully, that will translate into our team goal of making the playoffs again,” commented Torquato.
