Men's Soccer Earns No. 15 Seed in 2023 NCAA Tournament

DURHAM – The Duke men’s soccer team earned its fifth consecutive top-16 seed in the NCAA Tournament on Monday, after being selected as the No. 15 seed for the upcoming tournament. 48 teams were selected into the single-elimination field, with the top-16 teams earning a national seed and a first-round bye.

The Blue Devils (11-3-3) are prepping for their ninth NCAA Tournament under head coach John Kerr and will play the winner of the first-round matchup between Western Michigan and Green Bay. The second round is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 19 at 1 p.m., at Koskinen Stadium. The winner of Sunday’s match will face either second-seeded Notre Dame, Xavier or Kentucky in the third round, played on either Nov. 25 or 26.

Duke is coming off a second consecutive undefeated regular season at Koskinen Stadium and had six players earn All-ACC honors, including Forster Ajago, who was named ACC Offensive Player of the Year. Ulfur Bjornsson and Julian Eyestone both garnered All-Freshman and All-ACC Second Team recognitions, the only two freshmen to make the All-ACC Second Team.

Duke men’s soccer is 34-27-2 (.556) all-time in the NCAA Championship, headlined by the program’s national title in 1986. In the second round, the Blue Devils hold an all-time record of 11-7.

All first-round matches are played on Nov. 16, followed by all second-round matches on Nov. 19. The third round and quarterfinals will be played on Nov. 25/26 and Dec. 1/2 respectively. The 2023 NCAA College Cup is scheduled for Dec. 8-11 at Lynn Family Stadium in Louisville, Ky.
