No. 4 women’s soccer keeps the dance alive after 2-0 win against UW-Milwaukee

MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women’s soccer team (14-4-4) played in-state rivals, UW-Milwaukee (12-3-5), in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday, Nov. 10. Emma Jaskaniec and Maddie Ishaug came alive in the second to earn the 2-0 win. The Badgers now head to Tallahassee, Fla. to face No. 5 Texas; Time and date are to be determined.
 
How it happened
The Badgers had home-field advantage at the McClimon Soccer Complex for the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Both Milwaukee and Wisconsin battled it out the first half, but the Badgers dominated possession. The Badgers kept getting called for fouls, while the Panthers claimed nil in the first half.

The best chance of the half came from Taylor Gordon, who hit the post off a corner with two minutes remaining in the half.

Heading into the break, the Badgers were knocking on the door but the score remained 0-0. The team out-shot the Panthers 7-1.

It was all Wisconsin to start the second half, pinning Milwaukee in its own half. The Badgers finally got on the board in the 60th minute. A clearance off a Wisconsin corner fell to Ishaug, who hit the ball first time from outside the box. Jaskaniec redirected it into the back of the next to get the opener. Jaskaniec extended her season total to 12 goals and four assists.
