Three from Soccer Honored by Pac-12

SAN FRANCISCO – Lieske Carleer, Enasia Colon, and Pauline Nelles from Sun Devil Soccer were each named  Pac-12 Women’s Soccer Second Team All-Conference on Tuesday as the league announced its  2023 All-Conference Teams and award winners.

This is the third time in the past four seasons that ASU has had at least three players named to one of the Pac-12 All-Conference teams. The program has had 90 All-Conference selections in its history.

Carleer earned her second selection to the Pac-12 Second Team after also making the team in 2020 (played in the spring of 2021). She has played in 16 games this season as an anchor of the Sun Devils defense that is allowing 0.85 goals and 10.3 shots per game. Carleer has played 80-plus minutes 10 times and gone the full 90 on eight occasions.

Colon played her way onto the Pac-12 Second Team by leading ASU with nine goals and 22 points. She has tallied three multi-goal games and scored three game-winning goals, including two in the final 10 minutes of the game. In 19 appearances – all starts – Colon has also distributed four assists while putting 22 of her 46 shots on goal.

Nelles has had one of the best seasons by a goalkeeper in program history to make the second team after being a third-team selection last season. While playing every minute in goal for the Sun Devils this season, Nelles had a 0.85 goals-against-average and .825 save percentage. She set the program record for shutouts in a season with a Pac-12 leading nine while ranking second in the conference in save percentage and third in GAA.

Arizona State received an invite to the NCAA Tournament for the third time in the four seasons on Monday. The Sun Devils will face No. 7 seed Santa Clara in the first round on Saturday at 2 p.m. MST.
