Men’s Soccer Hosts Ohio State in Big Ten Tournament Semifinals


UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- Penn State men’s soccer, Big Ten Regular Season Co-Champions, will take on sixth seeded Ohio State on Wednesday, Nov. 8 at Jeffrey Field. This will be the Nittany Lions’ sixth time hosting a semifinal game in the conference postseason tournament. 
 
After earning a share of the regular season title with a 1-1 draw at Wisconsin on Sunday, Oct. 29, Penn State (10-3-4, 4-2-2 Big Ten), acquired a victory in a 3-1 match against Rutgers in the Quarterfinals on Friday, Nov. 3.
 
Penn State dominated the postseason Big Ten awards with Peter Mangione earning Offensive Player of the Year, Femi Awodesu winning Defensive Player of the Year, Kris Shakes being named the Goalkeeper of the Year and Jeff Cook earning Coach of the Year. The trio of Nittany Lions were also selected to first team All-Big Ten and Caden Grabfelder earned a spot on the All-Freshman team.

  • Kris Shakes ranks eighth in the nation in save percentage (.814) and first in the conference. Shakes’ seven shutouts are good for first in the conference and 10th in the nation.
