No. 6 Penn State Rolls to B1G Quarterfinal Win Over No. 24 Indiana

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Aided by a dominant offensive effort and stalwart showing from the back line, fourth-seeded and sixth-ranked Penn State women’s soccer cruised to a domineering 3-0 result against the fifth-seeded and 24th-ranked Indiana Hoosiers in Big Ten Tournament quarterfinal action Sunday afternoon on Jeffrey Field.
 

PSU’s resounding victory over Indiana bumped the Nittany Lions’ season record to 13-1-4 overall on the season and 7-1-3 against Big Ten Conference opponents in the 2023 season. Penn State finished with a 6-1-3 mark in regular season play to book the fourth seed in the league table and secured their second victory over Indiana at Jeffrey Field this season. The Nittany Lions continue to dominate the all-time series against the Cream & Crimson, securing their 30th win over IU all-time and moving to 30-1-3 against the Hoosiers since the first meeting in 1994. In defeat, Indiana drops to 12-3-4 overall and awaits their fate in the NCAA Tournament selection show next Monday, Nov. 6.
 

Penn State’s opening-round defense of its 2022 Big Ten Tournament championship coincided with the program’s 28th B1G Tournament appearance all-time, with the Nittany Lions improving to 40-13-6 overall in the league’s postseason event. PSU’s quarterfinal appearance ensured that the Blue & White remain the only team in league history to appear in every conference tournament, with the only two exceptions coming in the 2009 and 2010 seasons…
