Soccer Wraps Up 2023 With Pink Out Game Versus No. 25 Alabama


COLUMBIA, Mo. – Missouri plays its last game of the season at home against No. 16 Alabama on Thursday, Oct.  26, at 5:30 p.m. The game will be streamed on SEC Network for all fans to follow the action from Walton Stadium.

LAST TIME OUT

  • Mizzou soccer suffered a tough loss in Lexington on Sunday, Oct. 22, 1-0. While the Tigers outshot the Wildcats, 11-7, and both were tied for shots on goal, UK held on to its early lead after scoring in the fifth minute. 
  • With the Tigers down 1-0, junior Milena Fischer had the Tigers’ best opportunity of the day in the 85th minute, but a tremendous save had MU coming up empty-handed. 
  • Sophomore Bella Hollenbach made an imperative save in the 77th minute to keep UK from lengthening their lead.

STOPPED BY HOLLENBACH

  • Redshirt sophomore Bella Hollenbach continues to keep the games close for Mizzou in net, averaging 3.83 saves per game, which ranks second in the Southeastern Conference. 
  • Hollenbach has totaled 46 saves this season and holds a .708 save percentage, which ranks sixth and eighth, respectively. 

BULLSEYE

  • Sophomore Kylee Simmons is currently tied for 15th in the country in shooting accuracy, with 11 goals on 38 shot attempts. 
  • Furthermore, of the 44 shot attempts, Simmons has had 28 on goal and registered a season-high four shots on goal at Creighton on Aug. 8. 
  • Moreover, the sophomore leads the SEC in points (24), points per game (1.50), goals (11) and goals per game (.69).

ALL-TIME SERIES: ALABAMA

  • Missouri is 4-4 against the Alabama Crimson Tide all-time, most recently falling 2-1 in Tuscaloosa during the 2021 season.
  • The last win for Mizzou over Alabama came in Columbia on Oct. 19, 2017. The Tigers topped the Crimson Tide 3-1. 

SCOUTING THE CRIMSON TIDE

  • Alabama enters the match with a 10-4-4 record, dropping its most recent game against Mississippi State on Oct. 22, 2-0. 
  • Forward Gianna Paul leads the team with 17 points (eight goals, one assist). Additionally, Paul is one of two players for Kentucky that has totaled double-digit points this season. Felicia Knox has 12 points this season, with four goals and four assists. 
  • Graduate Student Dylan Pixton has 27 saves this year, leading the Crimson Tide with a .771 save percentage.
