To say that Tottenham Hotspur are having a disastrous season would be a gross understatement. The London club have been on the downhill ever since reaching the final of the 2019 Champions League. However, the worst for them has come this season with the Club failing to put any kind of consistency under their belt. The Club are now frantically trying to repair the damage, and the first step of that is to find a new sporting director. And according to reports, the Club’s top hierarchy has zeroed in on Bretford’s director Lee Dykes.

The 39-year-old has been credited with revolutionising the fortunes of Brentford ever since taking the role. Brentford were promoted to the Premier League in 2021 but performed brilliantly in the two seasons, finishing 13th in the previous season, and are currently ninth in the table.

And they have achieved this on a minimum budget due to the genius of Lee Dykes. So, who is Lee Dykes, and how good is he?

Who is Lee Dykes 

Lee Dykes was born on February 2, 1984, in England. Lee Dykes was immensely interested in football, but instead of playing, he put all his heart into coaching. His journey started as a 23-year-old when he joined Rotherham as a youth coach in 2007. Dykes would be in the role for another four years before he joined Crawley Town as a scout.

It was at scouting that Dykes would find immense success, so much so that Notts County offered him a job a year later. One year later, he would again be on the move joining Oldham Athletic. During all these years, his reputation as a great scout began to spread among the football ranks.

And in 2014, he would, for the first time, be offered the job of chief scout by Carlisle United. Two years on the job would earn him another promotion, this time as Sporting Director of Bury. Unfortunately, however, Dykes joined the Club at a time when they were facing severe financial issues, which led them to being expelled from the EFL within one year of his joining the Club.
