Ajax wonderkid Amourricho van Axel Dongen has signed a new contract at the club, despite speculation linking him with a move to Manchester United.
The left-winger, 18, had made his first team debut under Erik ten Hag during his spell in charge of the Dutch giants.
After joining the club’s youth academy in 2013, Van Axel Dongen worked his way up and was handed the Abedelhak Nouri trophy – the award given to the club’s best young talent.
Then during the 2021-22 season, Ten Hag handed him his first Ajax appearance at the age of 17 against BVV Barendrecht in a KNVB Cup game.
He also made his Eredivisie debut later that season, making three appearances in total in all competitions.

Ten Hag was notorious for developing a string of top young players while at the club, including Frenkie De Jong and Donny van de Beek and Van Axel Dongen had previously expressed an interest in working with the United boss again, fuelling speculation about his future.
‘I will remain eternally grateful to him for giving me the opportunity as a young player to play football with players like Antony and Dusan Tadic, he told Dutch outlet Voetbal Zone in September 2022.
‘I think it’s great to see that things are going a bit better with Manchester United; I really wish him that.
‘Unfortunately, I haven’t had the chance to speak to him since his transfer to United, but who knows, our paths may cross in the future.’
Unfortunately, the attacker struggled with injury this season and has only featured for Jong Ajax – the club’s second team – making 14 appearances in total.
