Newcastle United are reportedly in the mix for both West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice and Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney this summer.
England midfielder Rice is also a top target for Arsenal, according to the Times, but it seems Newcastle can’t be ruled out either, while the Magpies also seem to be expected to raid the Gunners for the signing of Scottish left-back Tierney.
Needless to say, it could be a huge blow for Arsenal if Newcastle beat them to a signing like Rice, with the 24-year-old looking a world class talent who is ready to make an impact at the very highest level.
Mikel Arteta could do with bringing in Rice as an upgrade on Thomas Partey, but it would majorly derail the Spaniard’s plans if he ended up missing out on this player to a top four rival.
Tierney, meanwhile, is a valuable squad player at the Emirates Stadium, and it seems like a bad idea to let him join this ever-improving Newcastle side.
The Magpies look in a good position to finish in the top four this season, and if they manage to add players like Rice and Tierney next season, they could be serious title contenders before long.
