Real Madrid predicted lineup vs Getafe

Vinicius Junior

Real Madrid will look to safely navigate their La Liga clash with Getafe on Saturday ahead of the semi-final second leg with Manchester City in the Champions League next week.

Los Blancos are expected to lose Spain’s top flight title to Barcelona at the weekend and focus is now on adding to their Copa del Rey, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup successes from earlier in the season.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti is fancied to make wholesale changes to the starting XI that held City to a 1-1 draw with a trip to Manchester on the horizon.

GK: Thibaut Courtois – Changes elsewhere are expected but there’s little reason to rest Courtois, who is arguably the best goalkeeper around right now.

RB: Lucas Vazquez – Vazquez is the natural option to replace the suspended Dani Carvajal.

CB: Eder Militao – Militao is available after sitting the City game out through suspension and could be the natural partner for Nacho if Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba are both rested.

CB: Nacho – Real’s utility man will play a familiar centre back role, having sat out the win over Osasuna before coming on as a sub against City.

LB: Eduardo Camavinga – Getting better at left back as he completes more games. Grabbed the assist for Vinicius Junior’s belter on Tuesday in an otherwise excellent display.

CM: Federico Valverde – Ancelotti will still need a general in midfield to maintain Real’s work rate out of possession and the dogged Valverde is the ideal candidate.

CM: Aurelien Tchouameni – Real’s big summer signing was only a late substitute against City in midweek and will want to promote himself out of their reserve XI with a big display here.

CM: Dani Ceballos – The Nacho of Real’s midfield, Ceballos has stuck around at the Bernabeu and now gets chances like this when Luka Modric and Toni Kroos need to be wrapped up.

RW: Marco Asensio – Has eight La Liga goals this season, which makes him Real’s third top scorer after Karim Benzema (17) and Vinicius (10).

ST: Rodrygo – Ancelotti has often turned to Rodrygo whenever resting Benzema. The Brazilian was the star when Real turned their semi final tie with City around last year and keeping him sharp in front of goal for this season’s equivalent fixture is hardly a bad idea.

LW: Vinicius Junior – In wonderful form, bagging seven assists and four goals in his last ten games.
