Wolfpack Heads North for Final ACC Series


PITTSBURGH — The Wolfpack softball team is set to head north to take on Pitt in the final ACC series of the 2023 season. The two teams will meet Friday at 6pm, Saturday at 4pm, and Sunday at 2pm with all three games being on ACC Network. 

The Pack is fighting to make their fifth straight ACC Tournament appearance. The team, who was predicted to finish 10th in the preseason poll, needs to win one game to secure their spot in next week’s play in South Bend, Ind.

Scouting Pitt

  • The Pack leads the all-time series 11-10, having won the last four straight
  • The Panthers started the season 14-6, but have struggled in conference play only winning one series (vs Notre Dame)
  • Pitt is on a  nine-game conference losing streak entering the series
  • Graduate Yvonne Whaley leads the team with a .428 batting average, 59 hits, and 17 doubles
  • Infielder Sarah Seamans leads the team with 11 homers and 32 RBI’s — she is second with a .382 batting average
  • The meeting will be the first reunion for Pack outfielder Katlyn Pavlick as she spent her first four seasopns at Pitt

What’s on the Line

  • NC State currently sits at 11th in the ACC standings
  • The Pack needs to win one game in order to make the ACC Tournament as they own the tie-breaker win over Georgia Tech with the win over Clemson

Continuing Their Story

  • The season has proven to be far from ordinary but Team 19 continues to make their mark in program history
  • In three days the Pack: recorded three straight sellouts (third time in program history), third largest attendance in program history (785), and beat a Top 25 team for the first time since 2021
  • The Pack marked the history book by recording five straight sellout games, in addition to selling out three consecutive series for the first time since the program started in 2004
  • Sophomore Hannah Goodwin recorded the final out in game three with the No. 8 Tigers to finalize the win against her former team
  • Redshirt-junior Aisha Weixlmann came in as relief in all three games against the Tigers and recorded a stellar performance [11.1 innings, 1.24 ERA, 13 K’s, 5 hits, 2 eraned runs, .119 opp. b/a]
  • Graduate Katlyn Pavlick recorded the three-run bomb that secured the win offensively for the Pack — this season she averages at least one homer a weekend
